The “Excellence in Tennis” course was introduced at Kelvin Grove in 1984. It was the first Excellence course of its type in sport in Australia. The program has developed with the support of Tennis Australia and the Australian Institute of Sport to become the “Queensland Tennis School of Excellence”.

The program is designed for Year 10, 11 and 12 students and is undertaken as one of the six subjects students must study while completing their Senior years. A Middle School program ‘Extension in Tennis” for Years 4 to 7 leads students into the Middle School Queensland Tennis School of Excellence program for Years 8 and 9. From Year 10 students in the Queensland Tennis School of Excellence begin to study Tennis as one of their six senior subjects. The quality of the program is maintained by three recognised coaches.
