The Senior Student Representative Council had a big week last week, between the non-uniform day on Wednesday and sausage sizzle on Friday to promote and celebrate Kuta and our new house totems!

Students from the Senior SRC were also excited to visit Queensland State on Thursday 20th February to take part in the United Nations Association of Australia Queensland Branch Global Citizenship Student Council Leadership Day.

The Year 2020 is the 75th year since the United Nations was established, it also marks the start of the Decade of Action for the UN Sustainable Development Goals to be achieved by 2030. The students witnessed question time in state parliament, and participated in a variety of workshop sessions on global citizenship and implementing action, thinking globally but acting locally n in their own communities, for change and for a better world. Students also met with the Honourable Grace Grace, Minister for Education and Minister for Industrial Relations who spoke to the student ambassadors from a variety of schools across Brisbane about the importance of youth agency in making a difference now and in the future. The students will use their new knowledge and skills to continue to work on their leadership and community initiatives for 2020 and build a greater focus on global citizenship at KG.
