KG Bold are super excited to be showcasing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival in the Fantauzzo Next Gen Group Show, Wednesday 28 August. Our Yr 12 designers Fern and Tatye in collaboration with their teacher Carol Turnbull have been working on their 2019 Spring/Summer Collection, 'Forget me not'.
The inspiration for the Collection came from the subtle shades of the 'forget me not' flowers plus dark blue and burgundy. Fashion images from the 1980's and asymmetrical shapes have been used to create a fresh and feminine collection.
The collections' focus was to create garments that were stylish, yet functional, with a contemporary twist that is both aesthetically interesting and includes design details that have the capacity to remain current beyond one season. A stylish modern look has been created by precise layering of organza, dupion silk, beaded and sheer fabrics. The garments are designed for clients who want to embrace a sleek and characteristic sense of style, and enjoy trans-seasonal dressing.
Our designers are nervous and at the same time excited to be on the runway. They are really looking forward to showcasing their collection to not only family and friends but to fashion lovers from all over Brisbane. The students are hoping that this amazing opportunity will help open doors to future opportunities in emerging and traditional creative fields. The collection will be part of their portfolio that represents their ethos as a designer and will be used to gain entry into their preferred fashion design courses next year. Our designers love to push the boundaries and experiment with different styles and techniques. After studying fashion at university here and overseas, their goal is work for some of the top designers around the world.
