Programs

Every year we have welcomed students from these countries: Brazil, China, Germany, Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, Japan and Italy. Kelvin Grove has a very caring, culturally diverse environment in which all our international students are invited to make a contribution. Many Australian families choose to enrol their children at our school because of the presence of students from other cultures. It provides an opportunity for the whole college to have a global experience without leaving the country!

We’d love to have visitors from everywhere else in the world too so if you know someone who is looking for a wonderful experience ask them to contact us at EQI or email our school.

EAL/D

EAL/D programs support students where English is not their first language. Support is provided for students from Prep to Year 12. ESL needs are identified through the enrolment interview process.

Homestay for international students

Staying in a homestay gives you the opportunity to: make friends with Australians; improve your English language skills; share information about your culture  and adjust to a new country while living in a safe and caring environment.

Each Australian homestay family is interviewed and visited by the school at their home. We work hard to ensure students are placed with safe and caring homestay families. All our homestay hosts are very friendly and enjoy having students from other countries live with them.

Local excursions for homestay families and their homestay students

Our Homestay Support and Liaison Officer organises lots of activities for students and their homestay families. Some of the exciting events they have experienced include 4-wheel driving, horse riding, a camp fire evening, bowling as well as trips to Fraser Island and the Gold Coast. These activities differ every year as we try to cater for all students’ preferences and interests.
