Visual Art Faculty Extension Events and Programs
Kelvin Grove State College Visual Art Faculty is one of the largest and most active in the State. The faculty runs a comprehensive program of extra-curricular and extension programs in senior and middle school Art, Design, Fashion, Media and Multimedia.
Design is a major focus in the Faculty. “Sit-Art” is one of many design extension programs run in partnership with the Design Industry, the QUT Design School and the Asia Pacific Design Library. This project included the re-design of seating in the Myer Centre. Student teams worked to rethink the user experience and create customized designs to reflect a younger demographic
Faces@KG (Self Portraits with a twist)
Faces@KG is an annual exhibition in Z Block QUT that features the self-portraits of year 11 Art students and some of great portrait drawings and mixed media works from the junior program. The unit, “Homage” takes students on a journey of self-discovery using an iconic portrait work by another artist as the starting point.
Conversations (Media Showcase)
The Media program works closely with the Creative Industries curatorial team of QUT to devise, mentor and exhibit a range of high quality student media and multimedia works in The Block, an interactive media exhibition space. Sharing facilities and the expertise of professional mentors is giving our students a clear edge in quality and experience.
I-Wear is an annual fashion and wearable design showcase event in the Glasshouse at QUT.
