Mission:
Producing versatile dancers and artists ready for pre professional training in the performing arts and dance industries.
KG Dance Excellence provides a school-based pathway for students looking to increase their dance education and training. With a strong focus on developing the versatile dancer, the program offers quality training and performance opportunities by industry professionals in classical ballet technique, contemporary dance and jazz, as well as hip-hop and national dance, to produce versatile dancers prepared for the dance industry. Students learn from highly-respected industry professionals and each week all levels participate in two ballet classes, and a third class in contemporary, jazz or an allied dance subject. All dance classes are conducted during normal school hours at KGSC's purpose built dance studios.
KG Dance Excellence focuses on:
- Pre professional dance training to foster and encourage strong dance technique across a variety of dance styles and genres, including but not limited to Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, Character Dance, and Musical Theatre.
- Pre professional rehearsals including the learning of guest choreography and the development of repertoire.
- Developing stagecraft skills that embody rehearsal, performance, and choreography, as well as cultivating etiquette in the use of costume, make up, and props.
- Developing discipline, motivation, musicality, creativity and teamwork.
- Developing a professional attitude with respect to personal health, work ethic and commitment.
KG Dance Excellence does not replace an out of school training program but is designed to support and complement dance studio training. Students are encouraged and supported to continue their dance studio activities.

Important notes
All dance programs at KGSC attract tuition fees to cover the costs of specialist dance teachers, accompanists, performances etc. Additional expenses include, but are not limited to, uniforms, dancewear and excursions. Strict Tuition Fee Policies apply.
Students may apply for entry to the Dance Excellence Program at any year level as there will be an annual intake for each.
Progression from one year to the next is achieved by successfully reaching the required assessment marks, work ethic and commitment.
Audition date for 2025 Year 7 intake will be held on Thursday 13 June 4.00 - 5.00pm at KGSC, SJ Block. Other year levels will be auditioned via a private audition as organised by the Dance Excellence Coordinator.
