Work experience can open up your mind to the great possibilities of your career. KGSC is committed to helping students access Work Experience and achieve an expansion of their skill set by allowing students to be released for a 1 day per week for 5 weeks in the student's chosen area of interest. In some circumstances, Work Experience can be continued up to a maximum of 30 days (1 day per week) in a one-year period. Students must be at least 14 years old to undertake work experience.
It is the responsibility of the parents/guardians to seek out Work Experience options. The VET & Pathway Coordinator at school will then organise paperwork and approval for the placement. A Work Experience Agreement is completed with agreement and signatures by the Employer, the Student, the Parent/Guardian and the Principal. This Agreement allows the student to be covered by Workers Compensation during the period of the Work Experience. Without this Agreement, Work Experience cannot proceed.
