Middle and Senior School enrolments - Years 6-12

Applications for 2021 entry for Middle and Senior School will open on March 1st 2020.  This includes all applications for Excellence programs and Academic Achievers in 2021.  Closing dates for individual programs will also be available then.

Enrolling at the College

Students can apply for enrolment at Kelvin Grove State College Middle and Senior Campus under the following categories:

  • Local catchment area: student’s principal residence is within the defined local catchment area (years 6-12)

  • Academic Achievers excellence entry: selected based on an order of merit (year 7 only) Entry test for the program is taken in term 2.

  • Excellence entry for Music, Art and Design or Dance: selected on an instrumental audition, dance audition or a submission for the annual Design challenge (available in Term 2) that demonstrates their artistic ability (years 7- 12)

  • Sporting excellence (football, tennis, golf and volleyball) entry: selected based on their sporting achievements and successful trial (years 7-12)

The submission of an Expression of Interest for enrolment does not guarantee a place at the College for in catchment students until all evidence and requested documents have been submitted and approved by the Executive Principal.  Please refer to the KGSC Enrolment Management Plan for more information.

For information regarding our Excellence Programs please refer to the Curriculum tab. Under the Excellence entry programs students must have school reports that reflect continued excellence in academia, behaviour and effort reports.  A non-refundable Processing Fee of $220 applies for all new out-of-catchment Excellence applications.  This fee is payable at the time the application is submitted and is not a guarantee of acceptance.  The fee can be paid at the SubShop or by bank transfer to the College account - BSB 064 157 Account 10000544.  Please ensure you identify your student's surname and initial in the reference area.

Decision on enrolment

Selective Entry - The Executive Principal is responsible for all decisions on entry enrolments and his decision on selection will be final. There is no internal review of the Executive Principal's decision.

Local Catchment Area - The Executive Principal is responsible for all decisions on enrolments and may request any additional documentation and conduct other enquiries deemed necessary to satisfy eligibility criteria.

Where the Executive Principal forms a preliminary view that an application will not satisfy the conditions of enrolment, applicants will be notified in writing. The applicant may respond to the Executive Principal's preliminary view by making a submission to the Executive Principal, no later than seven days after receiving the preliminary view letter.

If no submission is received, the Executive Principal's preliminary view will be treated as the final decision and no further notice will be provided.

If a submission is received, the Executive Principal will consider the submission and make a final decision, notice of which will be provided to the applicant as soon as is practicable.

There is no internal review of the Executive Principal's decision.
