Special Program – Academic Achiever's Mathematics Extension
The Mathematics Extension is a course of study that is differentiated from the Middle School Mathematics course. Whilst it is expected that students cover core content for each term, these classes will be able to do so at a faster pace, due to compacted curriculum, leaving time for further development and exploration. Within each term overviews there are topics and investigations covered only by students in the Mathematics Extension classes. These are included to challenge students to create a deep understanding of concepts. Students have the opportunity to challenge themselves further by participating in extra activities, for example the annual ICAS test for Mathematics, the Middle School Problem Solving Challenge and the Maths Teams Challenge. Entry into this specialised program is via a KGSC Middle School Academic Achiever Excellence Program application.
