Art and Design School of Excellence

In this world, creativity, innovation and thinking outside the square will be key survival tools. Kelvin Grove State College wants to equip creative students with new ways of looking at and thinking about the world. That is why we are developing curriculum focused on the future, using the best models in art and design education. The visual arts and design are key disciplines that will shape our responses to future challenges.

For this reason, the Art and Design School of Excellence is a natural choice for Kelvin Grove State College, and a good fit for students aspiring to work and study in creative fields.

  • Year 7, 2027 applications have closed.
  • Parents will be notified in Week 10, Term 2 with the outcome of their student's application​. 
  • Year 7, 2028 applications open in Term 1, 2027.

External application requirements:

Please upload a sample of your students' best artwork in traditional media (note that digitally produced artworks will not be considered), plus a handwritten note by the student expressing why they would like to be in the Program and an evaluation of their artwork. (Applications are received for Years 7, 8 & 11 only).

Note that submitting an application does not guarantee an invitation to the Workshop.

Current Year 6 Students application requirements:

  • Students are required to email a sample of their best original artworks along with a handwritten note expressing why they would like to be considered for the Art and Design Excellence program.
  • Please note that no digital works or statements will be considered.
  • Please send scanned examples of original artworks, including notes, as no more than four A4 pages in PDF format.
  • All applications are to be emailed to MSenrolments@kelvingrovesc.eq.edu.au 

*Due to the high volume of applications received, we regret that we are unable to provide individual feedback on submitted artworks.
