Two of our Art and Design Excellence (ADE) students have received incredible results in the Brisbane Portrait Prize NEXT GEN category this year. Seth (Year12) and Lilian (Year 11) were both finalists in the show last year, and have again made it into the final exhibition as 2024 finalists, which is in itself, an amazing achievement. The show opened on Friday night and it was revealed that Seth was crowned the overall winner with his painting, “Disconnected”. Congratulations Seth and Lili!!!
Lilian has painted an inspiring portrait of Ariarne Titmus as “The Terminator”, as she was preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Seth’s self-portrait looks at the disconnect between our local interiors vs exteriors and how our teens are often shrouded in unnatural light, even when the sun is blazing outside.
We are so proud of our ADE students and the pathways that this opens up for them as artists, with yet another entry on their competition and exhibition CV.
You can view the full pieces of art in person at the SLQ Gallery at the State Library of Queensland or the virtual exhibitions at https://brisbaneportraitprize.org/exhibition/
