From Little Things... Lifting the curtain on the 1st CIRCUS SHOW in the Brisbane Circus Centre! Starring our very own circus performers, Samantha (Year 12) and Eden (Year 9).
Our students have been part of an ambitious new collaborative performance by
Flipside Circus and Internationally renowned
Casus Creations. The students have spent months preparing for the show and awed audiences with their flexibility, strength, talent and commitment to their craft.
From Little
Things..., celebrates circus and the way circus skills are passed from one generation to another. The collaboration embodies inter-generational growth, with co-creation of the show; seasoned performers working alongside emerging artists, showcasing the building blocks of circus and the informal mentoring structures that make the circus community possible.
We asked the students if they could share a little bit about the show and themselves as performers.
Samantha:
What was it like to be part of such an incredible performance?
It was an amazing experience to be a part of this Flipside Circus production in collaboration with Casus Creations, From Little Things. It was a great learning experience for everyone involved as it allowed us to share our circus knowledge with other generations of artists to create what became an innovative, creative, and professional production. Being a part of large-scale productions such as From Little Things always fills me with such a great sense of accomplishment and overwhelming pride in my abilities and how far I've come.
How long have you been training with Flipside Circus?
I have been training with Flipside Circus for over seven years, and 2023 will be my sixth and final year in the Flipside Circus Performance Troupe. However, I aim to pursue a professional career in circus after graduation.
What do you love most about your craft as a circus performer?
The thing I love most about being a circus performer is finding a group of like-minded people who I can collaborate with and put all my trust in. I have built so many meaningful connections in the circus community which I hope will last a lifetime. Circus also provides me with a creative and physical outlet in an environment that encourages me to push myself harder and be myself.
