Drama in Practice students have been busy this term working with industry professionals.
Dr. Bridget Boyle, co-founder of debase productions and award-winning director, hosted a series of drama workshops at Kelvin Grove State College this term.
Members of the KG community will be familiar with Bridget's directing credits including Queensland Theatre's The Holidays and The Longest Minute (co-production with JUTE and debase productions).
Bridget has taught into the Acting and Drama programs at Queensland University of Technology over many years, specializing in acting and performance making. Her doctoral thesis, which focused on gender and physical comedy, received an Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Award from QUT in 2015.
debase productions is currently redeveloping Popping Lead Balloons, a play that focuses on the “bystander" in a girl-on-girl bullying situation.
Drama in Practice students were selected to take part in a series in of consultation masterclasses focusing on the play's redevelopment.
During the sessions our students produced subtle and sophisticated work.
Kelvin Grove State College's Drama Department looks forward to supporting debase productions as they continue to re-develop and launch Popping Lead Balloons in 2025.
