QUT Architecture
During the week we welcomed Associate Professor Debra Flanders Cushing PhD, MS, BLA and her Landscape Architecture students from QUT School of Architecture and Built Environment, on campus to learn all about our garden Jagum Barrambin and Barrambin Farm.
The students are looking at designing their own Indigenous Garden with consultation from local elders and were on campus to gain some inspiration, learn more about the history of the local area, and hear first-hand about the native plants that are thriving in our garden. They also received a special Welcome to Country by traditional owner JJ.
A big shout out to Chris Fullon from Australian Urban Growers who shared how our Urban Vertical Farm worked and the importance of research and project work in relation to the climatic effect of urbanisation, biodiversity loss, and the impacts of the disconnection of agriculture from the city, and raising awareness of global challenges that need addressing.
