The college recently held our Way Beyond Today event featuring keynote speaker, Siobhan O’Sullivan, Australian Computer Society’s Chief Operating Officer, who delivered an inspiring message on the importance of understanding one's 'why.'
Siobhan emphasised that understanding your 'why' is fundamental to tapping into your passion and aligning your vocation with your true nature. Siobhan encouraged our students to take initiative in their careers, be inspiring, authentic, and
true to themselves, highlighting that recognising personal motivations is essential for success and fulfillment. Siobhan also addressed the future of work, exploring what the jobs of the future in digital technologies and what they might look like and how we can equip our students with the relevant skill sets to help close the skills gap.
In addition to Siobhan, we had a number of guests from industry and community who spoke about the importance of transferable skills. Our guests shared their personal journeys and the skills required to thrive in various roles within their industries. The day's final panel focused on Olympians and elite athletes, exploring how transferable skills are crucial for thriving in an ever-changing world.
The key themes included the many pathways to achieving your hopes and dreams, the importance of life skills, and the value of connecting with your community, reminding students that there are countless opportunities across multiple roles and industries, both on and off the sports field.
