This afternoon some KGSC staff attended the
Brisbane Portrait Prize 2023 launch. The afternoon was a wonderful celebration of Brisbane’s portrait artists and their sitters and an opportunity to encourage the public to engage with the arts. We had the pleasure of hearing from last year’s winners and were excited to hear what 2023 holds for the art community. The Brisbane Portrait Prize consists of the Main Competition open to all entrants 18 and over, and The Next Gen Prize;
open to entrants 18 and under, with over $90,000 in prize money to be won.
The College are excited to champion professional artist and Visual Arts teacher, Matt Turvo who is well regarded in the arts community and will be entering a portrait in this year’s Main Competition. With a passion for fine art and street art, Matt is also excited to have the opportunity to mentor some of our students, workshop with industry, and encourage students to enter portraits in the Next Gen Competition.
It was great to chat with some of Brisbane’s top artists and creatives, celebrating, supporting, and innovating in Brisbane’s vibrant art scene.
