Celebrating World Bee Day, and recognising the importance of bees for our survival! Bees are integral to the environment and play a crucial role in pollination and ensuring food security.
Bees also provide us with delicious honey, are a vital part of the global ecosystem and have been around for millions of years.
Unfortunately, bee populations are declining all over the world due to climate change, pesticides, habitat destruction, and other human activities.
Let's do our part to protect and preserve bee populations and their habitats. Plant bee-friendly flowers and shrubs in your garden, buy products made with honey, and give up using pesticides and insecticides.
A big shout out to the Healing Barrambin Team of dedicated staff and students who did an incredible job with the market stalls on campus yesterday and in the Kelvin Grove Urban Village Markets today.
A huge thank you to our World Bee Day sponsors, the team from Hive and Wellness Australia, and their Capilano Honey brand. The team held honey taste testing, donated amazing raffle prices, honey, and soft toys, and Capilano's mascot Phoebe was amazing with our Junior School students! They were also incredibly generous and donated their Containers for Change refund cheque to our Healing Barrambin Bee project.
