This week, we are celebrating the rich history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples at Kelvin Grove State College.
This year’s NAIDOC Week theme, "Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud," Honours the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture.
Yesterday, our ceremony featured incredible performances and heartfelt moments, including:
- Welcome to NAIDOC Ceremony by Matilda
- Opening Didgeridoo performance by Dean Tyson (Cultural Educator & Artist)
- Principal's NAIDOC Address by Joel Buchholz (College Executive Principal)
- First Nations Captain Address by Harlem
- Traditional performances by Nunukul Yuggera Aboriginal dancers
- Junior School Choir featuring Dean Tyson performing "The Dead Heart" (1986) and "Solid Rock" (1982)
- Closing Ceremony by Matilda
